Privacy Policy

This policy describes how Kano, an iOS app for non-alcoholic drink recipes, handles information. Kano has no operator-run backend. Recipes, photos, drafts, finished cards, purchase ledger, and Creation Credits stay in the app sandbox on your device.
Account
Sign-in is one tap on this device after you agree to this policy and the User Agreement. Kano does not offer Sign in with Apple and does not collect a username or password. Log Out ends the local session and leaves your recipes on the device. Delete Account removes the local account identifier and the data that account wrote on this device.
Information stored on the device
Depending on how you use Kano, the sandbox may hold drink names, ingredients, steps, tasting notes, locally saved photos and card images, favorite flags, a Creation Credit balance, consumable purchase records, a push device token, and, if you allow tracking, an advertising identifier plus the last in-app feature you opened (Shelf, Record, Cards, or Settings).
Camera, Photos, microphone, and speech
Camera is requested only after you tap Take Photo so you can capture a pour. Photo Library read is requested only after you tap Choose Photo to import an existing drink picture. Photo Library add is requested only after you tap Save Image to copy a finished card into Photos. Microphone and on-device speech recognition are requested only after you tap Speak Recipe to fill the existing story field. You can type instead. Kano does not upload these media files to a Kano server.
Notifications and tracking
After you reach the main shelf, iOS may show the system App Tracking Transparency prompt and the system notification prompt. If you allow tracking, Kano reads the advertising identifier and records which recipe-shelf feature you open: Shelf, Record, Cards, or Settings. Kano does not sell drink photos. If you allow notifications, Kano registers a device token for optional alerts. If you decline, you can change access later in iOS Settings. Kano does not show a custom tracking or notification permission screen.
Purchases
Creation Credits are Apple consumable in-app purchases. Apple processes payment. Packs are identified as Grove Pouch, Cedar Cache, Orchid Caddy, River Vault, Lantern Crate, Nimbus Cellar, Amber Flagon, and Marble Cask. Credits live on this device and cannot be restored after you remove the app, use Clear All Data, or use Delete Account. Refunds are handled by Apple.
Included recipes
Kano may include house recipes on this device for you to open, edit, or replace. They are stored locally and are not live networked social posts or video calls.
